Marathon sitting
PA Wellington Parliament’s marathon detailed examination of the 380 clauses of the contentious Labour Relations Bill ended last evening. The committee stages were passed after 36 hours of debate under urgency which began on Tuesday afternoon. The Opposition moved 211 amendments, prompting a total of 162 divisions. All were lost to the Government. Members began the third and final reading of the 275-page bill just before 11 p.m.
