Purple Inn has little to beat at Avondale tonight

Special correspondent Auckland Purple Inn holds form that entitles him to be one of the best prospects in the Auckland Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double at the Avdndale Jockey Club’s meeting at Avondale tonight. Last time on the course, and under lights, at the Anzac Day meeting, Purple Inn won a class one 1200 m all the way. He had an equally good win the time before, at Rotorua, and in tonight’s race he will be trying for a hat-trick. If the latest achievements of the others are anything to go by Purple Inn has little to beat.

Country Lover, on heavy tracks, and Apricot Road and Snabben have

shown some ability and My Torpedo was a laststart winner at Dargaville.

It is hard, though, to enthuse over the rest of the field.
