Worker crushed

A Burnside man died when crushed under a truck loaded with fill at New Brighton yesterday. He was Cyril McAnally, aged 59, of Grahams Road. The accident occurred about 2.30 p.m. on a vacant section in Maces Road, where the Municipal Electricity Department was building a substation.

Senior-Sergeant John Henry, of the New Brighton police, said a truck was being used to carry fill from one part of the section to another. Part of the section was being dug out for the laying of cables.

Senior-Sergeant Henry said the truck reversed over Mr McAnally, who was an M.E.D. worker.
