Body recovered

The body of a climber who plunged to his death on Mount Cook on Monday was airlifted off the mountain at 11 a.m. yesterday. He was James Moar, aged 20, of Maurice Street, Lincoln. Mr Moar, who was, climbing with Messrs' Roger Parkyn and Derek Chinn, of Christchurch,

slipped as the group was nearing the summit about 2 p.m. His body was recovered by a helicopter search team on the upper Empress Shelf. His companions, who spent Monday evening in the Plateau hut, had been flown back to the Mount Cook settlement, said Sergeant Dave Thomson, of Timaru.
