P.S.A. drops demand for resignation
PA Wellington The Wellington section of the Public Service Association has dropped its demand that the Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger, resign his life membership of the P.S.A. Mr Rodger is a former P.S.A. president The call for his resignation stemmed from changes in the State sector during this Government’s term.
The regional secretary, Mr Francis Wevers, said the section decided not to proceed because Mr Rodger was acting as a Minister of the Crown. That was separate from his role as an association member. It also decided not to proceed because the motion could not be debated by the association as a whole until the national conference in August. The section decided instead to write a letter to Mr Rodger to point out his “failings.”
