Instrument sale raises $17,000
The sale of musical instruments at Hagley High School on Saturday morning raised $17,000. This would be put towards a performing arts course at the school, of which a big part would be a keyboard laboratory,
said the school’s principal, Ms Ros Heinz. “Some members of the public have voiced their concern at the sale of the instruments,” she said. “These are costly to maintain and many were obsolete.”
Pupils had been indicating a strong preference for vocal and keyboard music, said Ms Heinz.
“The aim is to provide a balanced programme between vocal, keyboard and instrumental.”
