Courses for golf novices
Novice golfers will have opportuniUes to improve their technique with the introduction of beginner courses in Christchurch from today. The Bryndwr and Christchurch Y.M.C.A. centres have combined with the New Zealand Golf Foundation to run an eight-week course Costing $32. A professional golfer, Kevin Smith, will be the main instructor.
Mrs Deirdre Graham, stadium manager of the Christchurch Y.M.C.A., said, “We are, first of all, hoping to attract older players, but we will also try to Identify young talent for the future.” All the courses would be held Inside, where students could develop technique and knowledge of golf without the distraction of bad weather, said Mrs Graham.
