Waiho gondola
Sir, —Any proposal to build a gondola system within the Waiho Valley would be patently absurd. The area within the present valley approach walk is faultwracked and is extremely unstable. Have the gondola proposers investigated Alex Knob as a suitable location for their cableway terminus? Having enjoyed the unbeatable views from this mid-height prominence, I can recommend it to this worthwhile endeavour. The cableway route would be over bush clad terrain and the lower terminal could be within close proximity of the Franz Josef township. — Yours, etc., D. J. CATTERMOLE. March 30, 1987.
