Fisher and Paykel, Ltd, has been awarded the Designmark for the Series 5 models of freestanding electric ranges.

The models feature different options and are made up from: 535 mm or 610 mm width, multi-func-tion or standard oven, a second oven or warming drawer, ceramic cooktop or radiant elements; electronic or electromechanical, digital clock; automatic or minute timer. The multi-function oven features a fan and can be used as a fan oven, a conventional oven, a grill, a fan grill or for defrosting. The standard oven can be used to bake or grill. All cooktops have four elements. The ceramic

cooktop has three circular elements and one oval element. The oval element and the large circular element are divided into two parts and can function as a large or small element. All main oven doors have windows. The 610 mm width has a special ventilation system which maintains the outer door surface at a low temperature. All models are provided with two side-mounted power outlets, as well as baking trays, and a roasting and grill dish.

Model features: M6lO EDS: Multi-func-tion oven, 610 mm width, electronic clock, automatic, double oven and ceramic smoothtop.

M6lO EWS: Same as above, except for warming drawer instead of double oven. M6lO ED: Same as M6lO EDS, except for radiant elements instead of ceramic smoothtop. In answer to customer demands, a new hob has been designed. Formed in one piece from the front of the range to the control panel, this hob is easier to clean and more pleasing to the eye.

Because the hob is formed in one piece, and an integral part of the range, there are no gaps or cracks to attract dirt. It has also been designed with a spill-over zone to prevent those cooking spill-overs becoming cleaning disasters.

Common features of the Charisma range of waterbeds manufactured by Howard Smith, Ltd, are the main frame construction, the waterbed mattress and the utilisation of a free-standing mattress liner.

Options available to the purchaser are soft or firm mattresses, soft-sided or timber-sided frames, and a plain pedestal base or six-drawer pedestal base.

The models available are the Vermont, Monte Carlo, Kensington, Huntingdon, Balmoral, Midas, Futura, Aspen, Softsider and Studio, in queen and single size.

The differences between the models are mainly in the areas of aesthetics, which in turn may influence finishes and finishing materials, workmanship, servicing requirements, durability

and safety considerations. The mattress and safety liner are made of 20g gold vinyl. A twin 40denier polyester fibre mat is enclosed within the mattress offering the firm option. The heater, 240 V, 400w, is thermostatically controlled, with thermal overload protection in the heater pad.

The controller features single-cord operation, a child-proof cover and a numeric calibration dial. The frame has 32mm laminated Customwood side rails; 12mm laminated veneered Customwood pedestal sides; 12mm Customwood internal supports; velour upholstery fabric; and metal cam fittings for side-rail assembly.

The finish is with wood stains, clear or coloured lacquer.
