Pigs too loud
Pigs’ squealing can damage the hearing of people working with them, especially at feeding time, according to two Danish doctors. Noise measurement in an area containing 1100 pigs gave readings of up to 104 decibels, well above the Danish legal maximum of 90 decibels, doctors Steen Girnsing and Soeren Kristensen said in the “Doctors Weekly” medical journal. The doctors recommended automatic feeding equipment so the workers can stay outside until the swine eat their fill. — Copenhagen
