Titles in yachting
Bill Beere, of the Christchurch Yacht Club, and Tony, and Kirsty Beasley, of the Mount Pleasant Yacht Club, won their respective classes in the Canterbury Zephyr and Sunburst championships sailed on the Estuary yesterday. Beere, a former Finn champion, followed up his earlier successes when he won the South Island Zephyr championship to clinch the Canterbury title in the class, with no points and one race still to sail. The Beasley combination needed only a second place in the Sunburst championship
to win by seven points from' Windsong, skippered by Dave Hewitt and crewed by the top 470 sailer, Jenny Egnot, who won the final race. Results: Sunbursts.— Windsong (D. Hewitt, J.
