Harbour workers to vote on strike
The Lyttelton Harbour Workers’ Union will hold a stop-work meeting to discuss the breakdown of its award negotiations. The meeting, probably on Monday, would consider a recommendation from the Harbour Workers’ Union for industrial action, said the
branch secretary, Mr Paul Corliss. The union has given 14 days notice of strike action. A series of branch stop-work meetings will vote on the action. If action is supported the strike would probably begin On March 14, Mr Corliss said. Earlier report, page 3
