Staff able to transfer
All Electricity Division staff will be able to transfer to the new Electricity Corporation, the Government has announced.
Mr Palmer said this meant they could change their employer while keeping their present job. The corporation would advise staff of the details
of the transitional arrangements. There was no compulsion for staff to accept any offer from the new corporation and the Government realised some of them would not, he said. But as no staffing surplus was involved, all. those who did not accept the corporation’s offer to
them would be declared redundant on April 1, 1987, and their employment would end on June 30, 1987. „
The State Services Commission had been authorised to negotiate with the Public Service Association on any redundancy compensation.
