Triggs wins again
Altha Triggs (Riccarton Women’s) won her second women’s bowls centre title this season — and her fifth in the last two seasons — when in partnership with Eileen Lane she won the Champion-of-champions pairs at St Martins yesterday. In the final, Triggs beat Amelia Lilly (Woolston Park), whose lead was Nancy Wall, 24-13. Threes on the first two
ends gave Triggs a good start, but Lilly fought back well and after 13 ends Triggs was ahead only 14-11. However; Triggs came away again and had few worries over the latter stages. Triggs’ previous title this summer was the open singles, and her latest success gives her a full book of singles, pairs, triples and fours titles in the last two seasons. *
