S.I. power boat championships
This Saturday and Sunday the Lake Rotoiti Power Boat Club, Nelson, will host the South Island championships as well as the Masport Cup. The New Brighton club should have 10 entries in the South Island championships; four outboards and six inboards. Of the outboards, David Duthie in Summerain and Greg Dakin in D’Artagnan will compete In the 0 class tunnel, while Barry Smith in Budget Butcheries and Terry Musson in Monler Tiles are entered in the V .class tunnel. ,f All the inboard edfcies are 'hydros and consist 3t David Rosewame in Black Magic, defending the South Island B
class title, and also Mike Ryan in a 125 Fiat, turbo powered huH, Avanti. Others are the two V 6 Ford powered entries, Don Hack, with Miss Hackabout, and Andrew Tapper in The Gremlin. Completing the line-up will be the Knight father and son combination of Peter, sen., in The Boss and Peter, jun., with C.R.C. Latimer Lodge, probably two of the quickest Grand Prix boats in the tryDefending the Masport Cup and going for an unprecedented eleventh win iff this prestigious event wiu be Peter Knight, sen., wittfother New Brighton entriesrbeing C.R.C. Latimer Lodge, Budget Butcheries and Monier Tiles.■
