Malaysia’s first car, the Proton Saga, came into production in July, 1985. The car offers modern trends in styling and Is said to equal world standards of quality, performance, economy, and comfort. It is being built in two versions with engines of 1.3 litres and 1.5 litres. Both are frontwheel drive models. A hatchback version is planned in the next two years.
