A.I.D.S.-free zone
Sir,—For decades New Zealand has maintained very strict quarantine standards — very much to our credit and advantage. We are now subject to a disease/virus/infection which is more dramatic than any of the other bugs we have succeeded in keeping out so far, A.I.D.S. We are an isolated country with a relatively small population. This killer virus could more easily be controlled if we again expose it for what it is and raise those standards. We should set up an A.1.D.5.-free zone. Our lives are at stake. — Yours, etc., EMMA JONES. February 21, 1987.
