Salaries staff restrict work

By

DAVID CLARKSON

Five staff in the Education Department’s Christchurch pay office have restricted their work in a dispute over regrading.

The workers in the staff and salaries section have been answering only three telephone calls a day, and attending to only three personal inquiries a day, since Monday last week. They have added more restrictions on the work they are processing this week.

The Public Service Association’s Canterbury branch secretary, Mr John McKenzie, said all five workers had decided to stand firm.

Talks on the dispute have broken down.

Wages and salaries are still being processed, but the dispute is restricting changes to pay going through the office.
