Fifth fire at hospital
A small fire broke out in the chapel at Sunnyside Hospital last evening, the fifth fire at the hospital recently. Fire-safety officers of the Fire Service and the Canterbury Hospital Board are investigating the cause of the blaze, which was reported about 6.40 p.m. Hospital staff put out the fire, which caused almost no damage, said a Fire Service spokesman. Three pumps, a hose layer, and an emergency tender responded to the call.
All the recent fires at the hospital have been found while small and put out quickly. On Sunday evening, curtains in a hallway at the hospital were found alight.
