Notice of strike
PA Blenheim The New Zealand Harbour Workers’ Union has given notice of a 10-day strike to take place next month. The notice was contained in a letter received by the Marlborough Harbour Board at its meeting yesterday. In its letter, the union , said a national strike would begin on March 14 and continue to March 24 in protest against the breakdown in award negotiations. The board’s general manager, Mr Michael Goulden, said the local branch of the union would hold a stop-work meeting on March 2 and employers were likely to get more details of the breakdown in negotiations from the Employers’ Federation soon.
