Bob Vance second in Hong Kong Derby

PA Auckland The former Takanini jockey, Bob Vance, last week-end missed riding the winner of the Hong Kong Derby by only a nose.

In a telephone call to friends at home, Vance said his mount, Flying Dancer (raced in New Zealand as Bon Sang), was beaten only by a nose in the big race last weekend.

Vance apparently put in an objection against the winner, a former English horse, Tea For Two 11, on the grounds of alleged interference in the home straight But his objection was dismissed. Tea For Two II was having his second start in Hong Kong. In the first race, when he was also ridden by Vance, he finished third in the Derby Trial.
