Government borrows $US150M
PA Wellington The Government had borrowed SUSISO million ($278 million) overseas, said the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, yesterday. A 10-year Eurodollar issue with a coupon of 8 per cent a year was launched by Credit Suisse First Boston on Friday.
Proceeds would be used to repay an equivalent amount of floating-rate US dollar debt, he said. The issue was in line with the Government’s policy of raising new debt only to refinance existing ones, he said.
