Schools to play share market
Greymouth reporter The Westland Savings Bank is providing $lOOO each to four West Coast high schools to allow senior economic students to “play the share market.” The schools are the Westland, Buller and
Greymouth high schools and Inangahua College. A spokesman for the bank, Mr Colin Jefferies, said that the project had been undertaken for educational purposes and to give the students an interest in the share market
Each class will report to the bank at the end of each term. At the end of the year, the students will sell their portfolios, return $lOOO to the bank and give any profits to school projects. Any loss will be carried by the bank.
