Family Support applications

PA Wellington The Inland Revenue Department is urging families to apply for Family Support as soon as possible to avoid missing payments early in April. A total of 60,000 families have applied to the Inland Revenue Department for Family Support for the year starting April 1, 1987. But about 50,000 families had yet to apply, said the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Mr John Simcock, yesterday. The department was concerned that some people might be waiting

until the last minute to apply for Family Support “If a family’s application is received too close to April 1, some payments may be missed,” Mr Simcock said. “It is therefore in a family’s interest to apply immediately. Any family which needs help with their application should contact Inland Revenue.” The Family Support scheme will provide up to $36 a week for a family’s first child and $l6 for each additional child. The actual payment will depend on the family’s income.
