Rangers blitz Halswell

The host club, Rangers, gave Halswell United a 10-0 thumping in the Liquorland Rangers pre-season soccer tournament at Rangers Park yesterday. George Hogan claimed four goals and the player-of-the-match award for Rangers. The other goal scorers were Geoff Blackburn (2), John Moore, Greg Clarke, Mike Cowans and Wayne Bath one each. Chris Bums won the Player of the Match award for Halswell United. Christchurch United had to lift its game a gear in the second half against Western to win 2-0. There was no score at half-time but Keith Braithwaite scored twice for United in the second half. Braithwaite received the player-of-the-mateh award for United for his goal scoring feats, and Steve Rhind received the player-of-the-match award for Western.
