Speed skaters chosen
A team of 15 junior speed roller skaters has been named to represent New Zealand in the Junior Pacific championships in Adelaide on June 10 and 11. The team was chosen after trials in Christchurch last week. To qualify for the team, skaters had to be under 16 years of age on January 1, 1987. The team is:
Boys.— John Dyett (New Plymouth); Philip Mawkes, Matthew Hippolite, Shane Clark (Nelson); Jason Mitchell (Hawke’s Bay); Julian Litt, Andrew Colville (Christchurch); Corey Hollis (Ashburton). Travelling reserve: Scott Mitchell (Hawke’s Bay). Girls. — Nichola Roberton, Kirsten Dunlop (Christchurch); Hayley Kirker, Kelianne Keen, Kelly Burn (Nelson); Janine Alehin (New Plymouth); Michelle Smales (Birkenhead).
