Help at fire
Sir,—We have heard of the wonderful job the various organisations did fighting the Oxford fire. However, what about those behind the scenes? I am thinking specifically of the Salvation Army whose members were among the first to respond in the form of emergency caravans from Rangiora and Linwood, together with teams of people to help the local community cope with the demands which were being put on them. Not only did they provide manpower, but, hundreds of dollars worth of food. Some of this was donated, but the rest was purchased by the Salvatjon Army and paid for without question. These emergency caravans are always’set up and ready to go with teams of trained people to help’ in any emergency. They never seek publicity and are always prepared to help. Organisations such as this need our support — we never know when we may need their help. — Yours, etc.,
