Jobs for mine workers
PA Wellington The Public Service Association will take its concerns about the future of the mineworkers to the Ministerial committee on State-owned enterprises as a “next step.” With the establishment date for most new State corporations — April 1 — only a few weeks away, the issue of contracts for supply between the Coal Corporation and two main customers, the Electricity Corporation and New Zealand Steel, has yet to be resolved. The fate of several communities, notably Huntly, hangs in the balance while haggling over supply prices continues.
