Rabbit used as weapon, Court told
PA Nelson A rabbit was the weapon when a Nelson pet shop owner was assaulted, the District Court at Nelson was told.
Senior-Sergeant Peter Grooby said, that Carol Daubney, aged 24, unemployed, walked into a pet shop and took the rabbit without paying for it When the shop owner, Valerie Joy Kelly, approached Daubney, the rabbit - was thrust at her chest In fright the rabbit clawed Mrs Kelly’s shoulder. .
Daubney admitted assault and two charges of theft from other Nelson shops when she appeared in court on Tuesday. Sergeant Grooby said that when the police approached Daubney, she was intoxicated and had no recollection of the events.
Daubney was remanded for a probation report.
