P.S.17A forms
Sir, —My daughter. required one of these forms so, as the advertisement said they were “available from all Government departments,” I called at the’ Post Office. No, they had not kept them for years. Off I went to the Labour Department, only to receive a similar reply. Well, surely the Social Welfare Department (I am beginning to wonder how many Government departments Ashburton has!) will help no none there either. Finally I found an office which did have one, but “didn’t wish to become known as a distribution centre,” so it was with great reluctance: that I was given a form. I got the distinct impression that the gen-
eral public was being discouraged from applying for Public Service positions requiring application on these forms. All post offices should have these available for distribution. — Yours, etc.,
(Mrs) L. MAY. Ashburton, February 16, 1987.
