Costumiers wound up
“Sounds like a day of reckoning,” Mr Justice Hardie Boys said in the High Court yesterday, as a number of counsel got to their feet and said they represented firms who supported the petition to have Blooms Costumiers, Ltd, wound up.
Debts of more than $77,000 were claimed against Blooms, which had women’s clothing shops throughout Christchurch.
His Honour ordered that the firm be wound up on the petition of Lichfield (N.Z.), Ltd, which proved a debt of $27,255. Evidence was given by Patricia Doreen Cleary, an assistant accountant
There was no appearance on behalf- of the debtor company.
Firms supporting the winding-up petition with the amount claimed shown in brackets, were: Sandman Agencies, Ltd ($19,305); Wraggs Sportswear, Ltd ($18,103); Millar Apparel, Ltd ($12,734); Kahu knitwear, Ltd ($6135); Cotura Fashions, Ltd ($888) and Van Roli Manufacturing, Ltd ($1416).
Blooms was incorporated on March 28, 1972, as a clothing retailer, and has a paid-up capital of $41,000.
