Missing files found
Wellington reporter The Labour Department has found the files described as "missing” in the White report on contract work schemes.
This was revealed in Parliament yesterday by the Minister of Employment, Mr Burke, in reply to questions by Mr Philip Burdon (Nat., Fendalton). Mr Burdon asked what action the department had taken to recover certain relevant files, required by
investigators, that had disappeared before the start of the investigation last year.
Mr Burke said the files had been found and any matter of discipline was for the State Services Commission rather than him. . ..... r.
The files had related to events in 1984 and had been found in a box, in which they had been placed for a shift of office rather than for any sinister reason.
It did not seem that the files would have altered materially the conclusions reached by the investiga-. tors, Mr Burke said.
