Funeral leave refused
NZPA-Reuter Dublin The Irish Government has rejected the request of the imprisoned guerilla, Dominic McGlinchey, to attend the funeral of his slain wife in Northern Ireland. Gunmen shot and killed Mary McGlinchey,, aged 29, on Saturday evening as she bathed her two young sons at her home in Dundalk. “In the normal way we would have allowed him to attend on humanitarian grounds, but on security advice it just is not possible,” said the Prime Minister, Dr Garret Fitz-
Gerald. Mrs McGlinchey is believed to have been killed as part of an internal feud in the outlawed Irish National Liberation Army, which her husband led before last March when he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting at the police. McGlinchey once claimed to have killed 30 men. His wife was wanted in Northern Ireland for questioning. Police probing the murder are hunting for a killer known as “Doctor Death” amid fears of more bloody internal feuding in the I.N.L.A.
