Stubborn resistance
PA Alexandra Stubborn batting by the Central Otago tail-enders, Tony Frater and Gary Lockhart, salvaged a draw for their side against the. New Zealand under-18 side at Molyneux Park yesterday. The home team needed 216 runs to win the game from 44 overs but the loss of early wickets and tight bowling by the tourists meant Central Otago was made to fight for survival. The highlight of Central Otago’s first innings which resumed at 124 for four was an unbeaten 50 by Ken
McKnight who lost his overnight partner, Jim Barrie, during Stephen Hotter’s first over. Scores.— NZ Under-18 252/2 and 168/6 dec. (M. Douglas 49 n. 0., M. Lane 47, S. Peterson 32, C. Cairns 22; B.
