Tour permit cancelled
A Cape York tour company that left nine overseas tourists stranded on a remote beach earlier this month has had its permit to run tours cancelled. The Queensland Transport Minister, Don Lane, said a formal hearing, at which the safari guide was given the opportunity to respond to claims, decided to cancel the permit The tourists complained ’ after the vehicle they were travelling in became bogged on a remote beach. Seven of the nine were stranded for three days and two walked 70km with the guide target help. — Brisbane.
