Thirsty work
Sir,—l am a City Council “dusty” and would like to acknowledge Mary Fairweather’s Christmas letter thanking the “dusties” for their work. I thank also the many Christchurch residents who gave us gifts of fruit and juice, wine and beer, and even chocolate and cake! I generally enjoy the brisk work pace we maintain to achieve our daily personal team target of
clearing the streets of blue rubbish bags by midday. The friendly public give us encouragement and the great majority of Christchurch people help us by putting out well-tied bags of reasonable weight, with any glass or sharp objects thickly wrapped in paper. Best wishes for 1987. — Yours, etc., TONY BROWN, Dust and Refuse Division, Christchurch City Council. January 29, 1987.
