New computer for tourist bookings
The Christchurch office of the Tourism and Publicity Department began using its new computer system yesterday, a move which will simplify the often time-consuming process of booking accommodation and' travel in New Zealand.
T.R.A.I.T.S. (Travel Research Accounting Information Ticketing System) is a highly sophisticated computer service
and has the largest data base of travel information and documentation' in New Zealand. Staff punch information into the computer for clients who are issued tickets soon after for every aspect of their chosen holiday. The department’s general manager, Mr Neil Plimmer, said big benefits would flow to the tourist industry and the travelling public.
