Abducted woman escapes
PA Levin A Wellington woman, aged 38, driving a man known to her to his home in the city on Sunday night, was abducted and sexually violated, the police said yesterday. They were returning from a dinner in Wellington when she was abducted to Te Horo and sexually assaulted during the night.
She managed to escape from the car when the man was asleep at 7.45 a.m. and ran for about 20 minutes to a Te Horo farmhouse where she called the Levin Police Station. The car was found but the man had vanished. The police had 12 men searching the area with tracker dogs and from a Cessna aircraft yesterday morning without success. “We believe he may have hitched a ride out of the area. Full inquiries are continuing,” Sergeant Stewart Davies said. . He said the woman suffered minor injuries.
