Blair test candidate
PA Wellington The Otago batsman, Bruce Blair, became a candidate for the test series against the West Indies this season with a lifesaving century against Wellington in a Shell Trophy cricket match at the Basin Reserve yesterday. But the 29-year-old veteran of 14 one-day internationals for New Zealand said that winning a test place for the first time had not been his main goal this season. “It was most important for me to pass 4000 runs
in my career,” said Blair after his 120 brought the Shell Trophy holder and competition leader back from 25 for four overnight to 267 — 31 short of first innings points.
