Big N.Z. land-yachting upset
Pam Cannard, of Christchurch, provided a big upset in the tenth New Zealand land-yachting championships at Nelson. Cannard won the class five women's event, ending, the five-year dominance ' of Christchurch’s Christine Rose. Ron Given-, of Auckland, a multi-hull yacht designer, held on to his men’s class five title with a display of exceptional skill. At times he was pushed hard jby Brent Cannard (Christchurch) and Bruce Wood . (Auckland). Fifty competitors from Auckland, Nelson, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin and Belgium enjoyed fast competitive racing in light to moderate winds and brilliant sunshine.
