Boy’s body recovered
PA Wellington A body believed to be one of the two boys who disappeared about a week ago has been picked up in the Firth of Thames. Thames police reported that the body was picked up by an amateur fisherman on Saturday after he sighted it floating in the water. They believe it is that
of one of two teen-age boys who went missing off Tapu on the Coromandel Peninsula about a week ago.
The boys, aged 13 and 15, from Matamata, had been seen last on January 4, in a three-metre dinghy with no lifejackets, oars, motor or anchor. Identification of the body will be made by its dental work.
