Manfeild triumph for Jones
PA Palmerston North The New Zealand Grand Prix winner, Davy Jones, continued on his winning way at Manfeild yesterday when he won both races in the International grand prix series. The American, aged 22, who won his second New Zealand Grand Prix at Pukekohe last Sunday, started both races from pole position after shattering Roberto Moreno’s five-year-old lap record in Saturday’s official practice. . '■ ’ Jones got the best start in the first of the 27-lap events with the New Zealander, Ken Smith, who was only fifth fastest qualifier, also getting an excellent start The American, Dave Kudrave, lasted only one lap before crashing off at high speed at Higgin’s corner on lap two. Kudrave walked away from the accident but his Ralt RT4 was extensively damaged. Mike Thackwell started well but Smith took second off him on lap five. Three laps later Smith’s race came to an end-
