China keen on Games
NZPA-Reuter Peking China is keen to stage the Olympic Games in the year 2000 and the World Cup In 2002, a Chinese Olympic Committee spokesman said. The New China News Agency said many members of the International Olympic Committee, including the president, Juan Antonio Samaranch, had expressed the hope that China would host an Olympiad after 1992. China is to host the Asian Games in Peking in 1990 and the agency said preparations were now in full swing. ■
