Unbeaten century
Barry Cummings (Bum-side-West University) scored the only century in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s lower-grade limited-over competitions on Saturday. Cummings, playing in the third grade, made an unbeaten 102, but his team’s total of 241 for five was bettered by its opposition from High School Old Boys. Scores were:— Second grade Lancaster Park 199/7 beat Sydenham 172 (R. Thomas 62 n. 0.). High School Old Boys 185/9 (M. J. Mowat 67) beat Christchurch B.HX 165/9. Burnside-West University 109 lost to East-Shirley 111/5. ’ Riccarton 143 (G. T. Straw 64) lost to Old Collegians 144/8. Marist 138 (J. Stuart 70)
lost to St Albans 141/6. Third grade St Thomas’s 120 lost to Papanui HX 123/4 (D. Harrt- ' son 63 n. 0.). Christ’s College 114 lost to St Andrew’s 115/7. St Albans 79 lost to Syden-' PariE : 227 (C Simons 67) beat Wootaton W.M.C. 174. Shirley B. H. S. 178/7 (Stead 50, White 54) tort to Linwood HX 181/8. . jig St Bede’s ill beat Riccarton 69 (J. Kiiworth 5/14). Marist 194/7 (McCtoy 64; K. Harding 5/24) beat Bumside HX 171. Burnside-West University 241/5 (B. Cummings 182 to.) lost to High School OW Bow 242/5 (B. Fahey 72 tft, T. Capstick 51).
