N.S.W. triumph for Garrison
NZPA-AAP Sydney The sixth-seeded American, Zina Garrison, won her first big tournament in 15 months when she took the sAust23o,ooo Family Circle New South Wales Women’s Open in straight sets from her more fancied compatriot Pam Shriver, yesterday. Garrison, whose last big win was at the 1985 European Indoors at Zurich, said the victory was her best on grass. “You have to use your head on grass, also be very athletic and to win it with a game of my type, which is an all-round game, is difficult as supposedly serve-and-vol-leyers are the people that win it”
