Car hits fence, wall
A car crashed through a concrete fence and moved the wall of a Pages Road flat half a metre early yesterday. The car then bounced off, moved the concrete wall dividing the flats, and stopped. The three occupants of the car were not seriously hurt The occupant of the flat, Mr Brian Winter, was in the bedroom next to the damaged lounge. He was surprised, after the
noise, to see that the car was not inside. He said the car had apparently clipped an island in the middle of the road. Mr Winter, a taxi driver for the last nine years, said the traffic island, at the junction of Woodham and Pages roads, was not sensibly designed. “It takes up a large amount of road space and it needs to be very carefully negotiated.”
