‘Cricketer of year’

PA New Plymouth The Central Districts opener, Jackie Clark, has been named New Zealand’s woman cricketer of the year. Clark scored more than 300 runs, Including one century, at the recent Hansells Cup tournament, but the award was mainly for her performances for New Zealand in the oneday series against Australia last season.

In the first match she top-scored with 81 when New Zealand failed by four runs to reach Australia’s total of 211. In the next she topscored again with 59 as New Zealand cruised past Australia’s total of 171 and won by five wickets. The' deciding match was rained out but not before Clark reached 36 not out. ■
