The community activities department has wide ranging responsibilities encompassing the effective development and management of parks and reserves, proeprty, libraries, building and community development. The position reports to the department’s director but considerable autonomy is envisaged. The appointee will be required to establish a project management approach in a multi-disciplined environment as well as assisting to introduce and oversee management systems and procedures and budgetary control. Appropriate experience may have been gained in one or more of a wide variety of disciplines, the key requirement being the ability to successfully co-ordinate the activities of a range of professional staff and to deputise in the Director’s absence. As an indication of the scope of the position the department has a budget of S3SM this financial year with a staff of over 300.
