This Committee has been established to maintain surveillance of the general health status needs and problems of the community, and the health services provided to meet these needs. The Committee will sponsor health research and development activities using a variety of ' mechanisms. Applicants should have a university degree and work experience in a relevant field (e.g. medical, social or healthrelated science), have good public relations and writing skills and a knowledge of research methodology. Applicants should be able to work Independently and willing to travel within New Zealand. The appointment will be based in the MRC Secretariat, Auckland and will initially be on a part-time (50 per cent)' basis; for a three-year period in the first instance.
