Cooksley for Singapore
PA Auckland Grant Cooksley, so remarkably successful during the past two months, will be the next top New Zealand jockey lost to overseas on a long-term basis. Cooksley said yesterday that he had accepted a contract to ride in Singapore for the stable of Eddie Breukelen, one of the leading trainers and runner-up on the list last year to Teh Choon Beng. The initial contract was for 12 months, he said, but if everything went well it could .be extended. Cooksley will ride during the three days of the coming Wellington Cup meeting then probably at Ellerslie on Anniversary Day before leaving with his wife and two small children to take up his new appointment.
